So i have been on my first reel carp "expidition" during the first weekend of august. My fiance, her parents, her brother and his girlfriend went to camp at a dam outside Paarl
We got there just after 4pm on Friday, first things was to get our rods in the water. After that was done we started setting up camp. after that the fires was lit and we were "kuiering lekker rustig"
one carp of just over the 2kg came out. further it was quiet. we went to bed just after 01:00 (rods on stands and alarms) at around 01:15 alarms were going crazy and we landed about 6 fish in the spec of 20mins (we had 9 rods in the water)
things quite down then and we went back to sleep. during saturday my luck changed and landed another 9 fish of which the biggest was 2.59kg. Father in law to be landed one of 3.99 and then brother in law to be's girlfriend landed a 4.44kg one just after 18:00.
We lit the fires again after 7 and had some people over for a braai. i went to bed quite early as i was pap tyres....lol. (that was around 23:00) i didnt even put out my lines.
Came sunday morning i felt refreshed and lines were back in just after 09;00. landed another 4fish myself. all between 2 and 3kg. just after 11 my alarm went bos, i ran over and i could see this was the one was waiting for. this fish pulled my flat he, it was running and i had to play it nicely. took me about 15mins to land the beauty of 6.39kg. the others landed a couple of smaller fish after that. we packed up and left just after 15:00
what a fun weekend. we landed over 30 fish.
