Yzerfontein beach fishing.

Hi Guys,

I’m off to Yzerfontein camp site from 15 Dec – 2 Jan and obviously would like to do some fishing while I’m there. I’ll be planning some days at Langabaan and have read Oom Daisy’s posts regarding spots and tactics.  

What I’m after is any advice or info of spots to fish near the campsite (walking distance) or near the harbour, or anywhere else. Bait, tactics anything that’ll help me catch some fish from the beach.

Also if there are any contacts for a boat owners/fisherman that is reasonably priced for a day’s outing, I’d be interested.

All help appreciated.

Jammer om die nuus te breek, maar van die kant af in Yzies is, wel om die beste te se maar treurig.

Tussen die hawe en Schaapeiland kan jy hotties optel. Witmossel, rooiaas, kreefstert.

Rotse by karavaanpark, Rooipan, galjoen, maar jy ken mos jou reels.

Daar was al gerugte van Steenbras op die strand suid van Schaapeiland. Prawns

Meskien moet jy maar liewers kreef probeer by die hawemuur.

Thanks Eunbell, for the honest reply. Fished at Yzers last year without much luck so I suppose this year will be the same... I'll have to take more trips to Langabaan.

probeer dwarskersbos ook was nou vrydag aand daar tot saterdag ogend so 10h die oggend.

Tussen 4 mense het daar so 30 sandhaaie, 4 koeihaaie, 7 babers, 5 gurnets, 3 bleurays, 2 thorntail rays, en net toe ek en n vriend weg ry toe bel die ander en het 2 kabeljoue gevang 10kg en 11.5 kg, toe hulle ok die middag daar by ons huis kom stop het ons maar met groen gesigte daar gestaan, nie weer ry ek voor die ander huis toe nie.

I will be going to Yzer from the 15 Des to the 19 Des, will be camping and fishing at the DRAAD, pm you number and i will give you a ring when i get there

Hi Carl,

You must make turn at Ganzekraal, about 15 minutes back from Yzerfontein to Cape Town.

Favourite spot for Cob this time of year. You will find anglers there on daily basis.

langebaan is always a good bet aswell, very close, but then again, who would say no to fresh crayfish!
