I've had an excellent offshore season with plenty of longfin and quite a few big yellowfin.
Had only one gallie session where I caught and released a bunch of fish. nothing big though.
Also done 2 nice trips to tag fish at the DeHoop MPA, one of which where I was obliged to kill a spotted gully shark which had been tagged with a special tag.
For the researchers, this is a real bonus fish as much can be learnt from its internal organs and growth rate. It had originally been tagged in 1996 so had been free for 15 years.
It was great, cos its not often that those of us who fish for sharks get to kill their catch, decapitate it and rip out their guts on the rocks........bwahahahahahaha!!!!
Mind you, I did have to lug all that precious biological material over the dunes and back to the bakkie.
But season wise, I'm not complaining!
