We heading to Struisbaai in December to target Yellowtail & Tuna. Before we buy the wrong gear please advice on terminal tackle setup. Yes we from the wrong side of the Vaalriver so we new to Struisbaai fishing.

Jigging setup we purchased Saragosa 6000's & Torsa 30's mainly 150-200g jigs.
> What size and type braid must we use for jigging ?
> What breaking strain lbs leader and how long ?
>Fluro leader or normal mono for leader for jigging ?

We have Tiagra 50W's spooled with 50lbs mono.
> What size wind on leader do you guys recommend.
> I want to invest in a selection of Tuna lures for Struisbaai any advice on lure types to buy will be highly appreciated.

Thans guys

Lots of different options and opinions out there but for sportfishing you may be a bit light with the 6000. An 8000 would be a better choice if you tangle with any of the larger fish.
50-80lb braid, with 65 being optimal. Any of the reputable brands, I like 832 or PowerPro. Then 4m of 80lb fluoro to your jig.

Struis tuna are generally not as large as CPT fish - however you do have a chance of picking up a marlin (Dec may be early). I tend to fish 80lb braid backing and then a 300m topshot of 80lb mono. But your 50lb straight mono will be fine. 100lb-150lb wind on will be good but keep a 400lb on standby in case billfish are around.

XRaps / SpeedPros and small konas (like a Sailure) should work with a small squid and bird way out back.
