This week was the St. Francis tuna comp and I was invited to fish aboard 'Taffity' an ex Gordons Bay butt-cat...
Well we only caught one weighable tuna, the first one of the comp. It is my biggest yellowfin to date and weighed in at a mighty 20.6kg HAHA
Most fish on the first day were this size and so far the largest fish is a 81kg Bigeye caught aboard Lalandi the One. I will try organize a pic
So here it is...
it just about swallowed one of these
caught it on a tiagra 50 combo, what overkill but ja at least I didnt blank and also got a nice 1kg skipjack in my freezer for sliding purposes
there were plenty birds around on the second day as a trawler was pulling its nets and loosing some of its catch (couldnt see what specifically)
saw - yellownosed albatross
shy albatross
white-chinned petrel
cape petrel aka 'tuna bird'
and one or two other brown one's im unsure of
