Yeld Cat renovation

The blog was neglected due to work circumstances, but likely the renovation didn’t stop.
It is now 5 April 2014. The deck had been completed, seat sizes given to an upholstery company in Maputo that they could start with that.

The transom needed a layer of 450grm fibre matt and a few coats of resin and then the final paint work.

With the paint work done, at last the assembly could begun.

We found the exact same size drawer handles at Chamberlains – this time wood in the place of plastic. A loose non-slip rubber mat is used to avoid the slippery floor and heat.Stainless steel was polished with Braso.

The upholstry finally arrived and could be fitted. Couldn’t wait to take her to the water now.

Finally 25 April 2014 and the ``new`` Yeld Cat is back where it belongs.

To get a reliable sign maker here seemed just impossible and after many tries and designs we found a guy willing to come, take photos and measures, designed and have the new decals printed within days.

Those old Yammies are reliable and reasonably cheep to recon. Enjoy the fishing and the boat for a bit before you do the motors otherwise it will feel like the project just costs money and there is no return of enjoyment

Thanks Shannon, hard work but enjoy it and enjoy the outcome much more. Not as nice as it seems to be, the water here is super clean but the locals did destroy 99% of the sea life and still going on, this cause that here is no fish near, you have to go 25+km out.As we say, 40 years a it was a tropical paradise, now it is only tropical.
