Yamaha Trim Meter

Morning all

Perhaps there is some advise out there:

My one motor's trim meter just stopped working. Is there somewhere one can have a look for a loose connection/ replacing of a part - with not having to take it to a boat shop ?

Hi Arrie,

Assuming its not an electrical connection problem.  My Yammie trim guage also stopped working a while back, on my old 130HP.  Called the local boat shop and there advice was spot on.

The sender is a silly plactic device located on the shaft around which the engine rotates (in the trim sense not steering).  This sender pushes on a microswitch which sends the trim position to the guage.  Anyway the sender had snapped, a common problem I believe.  The replacement is made from metal, you can fit it yourself, provided your fingers are small, and with the help of a small phillips screwdriver.

Thanks - found the little sensor under the trim tilt - took it appart and with a bit of Q20 , grease and a pliers got all the rust out and got the little spring to do its work again.

Working perfect.

My rev counter is not working, when you switch on the ignition it lights up but does not show the revs

Any ideas?
