Yamaha 90 lower unit casing.

Hi guys, I am desperately looking for the lower casing of a Yamaha 90hp 2stroke that is in good nic. For some unknown reason I got a big crack in the exhaust part of the casing and when I removed the nut and the tabbed whasher I saw that corrosion had eaten away the threads. The bearing carrier is also corroded so much that I am batteling my @ss of to get it out.(Maybe someone can give me some advice to get it out). Thx guys I came right. I got the bearing carrier out after some very bad swearing and hammering. Hahahahaha. With a little bit of love and care and some engineering I will have it as good as new in a couple of days.

Check that your Anodes are properly connected it sounds like your gearbox is taking strain from electrolosis!!

The Yammie gearboxes or prone to cracking especially the 90hp upwards.

Its a known fact that the one big downfall of Yammie is the quality of the Ali used by the Japs. The older Zukes are worse. Merc and Mariner and the Jonson Evinrude clan used better quality product with better corrosion resistant properties.

Have the gearbox rewelded and machined with a new thread cut.
