Worms & crankbaits

I recently acquired some worms and crankbaits since I am getting into bass fishing

I don't know much about what I now have

I've read about different water conditions etc
its quite overwhelming
any tips and advice will really help a newbie out

a few packets of worms...
watermelon, candy, plum, black shad, junebug, golden bream etc
too many options..what is the basics that I need??
