To the Hall family and friends, my deepest condolences to you all and may the almighty provide you with strength during your time of bereavement.  To those "animals" out there (I do not have enough expletives to describe your vile acts and deeds) I find solace in the fact that you will pay for your crimes, if not here then in the hereafter.

This is just such a sad story. I never want to become 'used' to this type of thing just because it happens all the time.

Take the car, I get! Your own people promised you sh!t you never got and now you are REALLY suffering, but why kill young women???? Frick'n barbarians!

My condolences to her family and friends. That is just not fair that such dreadfull things happens to innocent people! It is indeed another sad day in the existence of our country.

Just a few thoughts on the death penalty.....

Are we sure that bringing back the death penalty will change criminals' behaviour regarding respect for human life. People that kill that easily must have a certain mindset which was formed over years - "kill because eventually you'll get killed" (gangster like attitude). The last thing they have is respect for life.

Obviously bringing back the "noose" will make us feel better, if the criminal get the sentence, but there will still be people killed in our streets by criminals. I therefore do not think it is the solution. Society kills versus criminals kill....just another vicious circle.

I have got no solution to the problem.

I do not think there is a single answer that will solve the problem. Maybe if the whole SA law abiding community stand up and claim there right to live and work in a decriminalized society, that might just be the beginning of solving the problem. This is just one small drop in the bucket from my side.... maybe some other views?

PS It is not my idea to change the topic of this thread "condolences to the family of the young woman so sadly killed" and starting a national debate on bringing back the death penalty, but I just needed to get this off my chest.....

my condolences to the hall family for their lose. i pray that god gives them the strength to see each other through this.

@fishton i tend to agree, there were def one or two advantages to the old governmental system.... like working/functional police and judicial system.

This is indeed one of my saddest days on Sealine.  We have heard once again of another senseless killing of a human being, which irrespective of man induced differences, is sad in the extreme.  I do not wish to denigrade the memory of Ms Hall, but some of the comments are completely out of step with the realities and that I take umbrage with.  I must say that I am disappointed that some so called "verligtes" have not taken exception to some of the comments expressed as "opinions" when it goes against the very spirit of fostering the brotherhood of angling and more importantly, the humanity we all aspire to.

Critisize government for the complete inability by all means as they SHOULD be accountable to the people.  This current government's failure should be highlighted, fought and taken to task for corruption, ineptitudes etc, so that is not my issue.  Bear in mind however, that Hitler also provide a functional and working judiciary, police service and health service for "his people".  What has happened to the spirit of Ubuntu when we can justify the rapes, murder, dispossession and enslavement of people as an overt and legislated Government Policy and then the hipocracy when we claim we are merely fighting for the humanity in man.  Two wrongs never make a right and it is indeed regretable that pre-1994 dinosours can still claim to cherish those "God given" moments of bliss.  Maybe ask the millions of people killed in the apartheid days how they cherish those "good old days".

Mike, then the point of my disgruntlement is truly lost.  We are all human beings that should share a common thread to advance the humanity of "mankind".  When a forum member continuously berates a government, No Problem.  When they ask for the imposition of a world order that is racist in the extreme, yet no one seemed to bothered about it.  Since when has this hipocracy been more evident than here. 

Many a times issues or undercurrents relating to race is brought and msot forum members are quite willing to accept that.  As soon as bigoted issues gets brought up then "we have to watch the racial diatribes".  The issue is not about race per se: and that is really the issue.  I hope you get it.

@karma i do not believe this is really the forum for this topic, but i would alos like to point out that i by no means said the old system was perfect. i said there was one or two things that were advantages about it! Yes we people of "colour" have a greater freedom, which many people not only fought for but died for. but do you really think all of those people fought for the freedom where people are to scared to drive down the street because they might get hi-jacked?? where fishermen like you and i and everybody else on this site are to scared to go to certain area's to go fish at night cause you run the risk of being robbed or killed for your phone or the R50.00 you have in your wallet.

im not sayng lets go back to the old ways, but they were doing something right.... even if it was only making you feel safe to walk down your own street at night!

Hi all

Firstly, thank-you to the Hall family to such a beautiful memorial service in honour of such a beautiful young woman. What was said today I believe will stay in the minds and hearts of all who were present, and I believe that Jen made her presence very well known when her picture 'jumped' off the piano - definitely a Jen-Rae moment!

Secondly, Sherri Geleignse in Johannesburg has asked me to message all of you with regards to a farewell this coming Wednesday the 25th of June 2008, at the News Cafe in Fourways. She and Tina have created an event called "A Toast to the Life of Jennifer-Rae Hall", and they would both appreciate all who can make it to please RSVP on the event, in order for them to ensure that there is enough space. All are welcome to drink a toast to this amazing woman.

Thank-you on behalf of the Hall family for all of the support and love that has been pouring in from literally all over the world; seeing as there were no chairs left in the church this morning, and that there were a good 50-60 people standing behind all of the seated persons, this was just a small testament to how many lives Jen did actually touch.
