Ray I am directly involved in the design and manufacture of certain blanks.

I also then do the custom building on these blanks and am setting up the new carp and saltwater light to medium spinning range for them.

I also do custom builds on St Croix, G Loomis, Blue Marling and Lamiglas blanks.

My favourites for big game and jigging remains the CD blanks from New Zealand

Hi Old Salt, we've been toying around with the current HMG that Purglas got in and the 400/4A in HMG is 3 times as strong as the old 400/8 and double as stiff and weighs as much as the 400/4

Getting the balance and some action in the rod is going to be the trick to get right.

I am however looking forward to the new Toray Carbon on the way in from the USA. I've got a few rods in the current stable made of Toray and I can say it is better than any Japanese or Korean HMG / IM9-11 materials

This Toray carbon has been around for a few months now, and the Assassin Torays are getting good reviews from their websites .  :SSS

Wondered how it is going with Purglas - would like to buy a stick or two to make up for old times sake as well as the fact that the ones I have are still going strong some 20 years later and I would appreciate an upgrade.  I hope the quality ethic survived the transition to new owners.

For what it is worth - to all involved in the designing and testing of rods - most of modern life means travelling to fishing spots and so two and three piece rods are a great convenience.   And you cannot always take it all with you so a single butt with a couple or three tips is a good way to go.  I use a Poseidon Bantam extensively, and all the tips get used.  Just about reached the limits of the rod as a casting tool,  so another excuse to upgrade!

Any idea on when the new designs will be for sale to interested buyers?

Hi Tintin

There is a thread running where Enigma discuss the new Purglas slimline blanks, on the phone now, but if you don't find it I post it later

All Purglas rods available in 1,2 or 3 piece.

As the rod is built as a unit it only has one tip. I personally can't get it right to fish with a rod where the tip action doesn't match the action of the rest of the rod.

Yes there were some small issues regarding quality control but that was just for the teething process of the new factory as it has moved inland.

They offer the same warranty and each blank is tested in the factory before going out.
