It is a beaut!! I owned one and truly find them to be an excellent fair weather fishing boat! I did get stuck in a few unpredicted situations but never once felt she couldnt handle it! I really regret selling her. Well done on a great buy and may she bring you lots of joy!

I came quite close to buying LAC... It was a bit far for me to go though. She was listed at a pretty good price... What did you end up paying fer her?

Well done, I reckon you have a lekker boat there. Just watch for steep following seas, I'm told the motors get swamped fairly easily and she can take some water over the stern. But you can manage that if you stay alert.

Hi

I paid a few klips less than it was advertized ?

I have replaced the steering cable and now you can turn with one finger.

Just waiting for some calmer weather so I can take her out. ::S

I was told this boat is suitable for 2 but want go 3 up ?

I usualy fished two up, depending on the size of your crew. My "third" mate was over 100kg and did upset the balance when he moved around while we travelled to our st. Re the water over the stern. It does take a little when on anchor but i have never had it swamp my motors. I had two 40 2cyl yammies on so already there was a fair weight on the back.

I'd say fine for 3 up if you plan on bottom fishing and maybe trolling, but flinging plugs, poppers and spoons???? specially with the T-top, nah... stick to 2.

If you do go 3 up, go in at the first sign of bad weather.

I think you got a bargain. Enjoy!

I was thinking of taking the 'T' top off.

I don't see the point of it or what its used for apart from shade.

Any comments ?

It's a very personal choice. For my type of fishing, the last thing I need is something solid in the general area of my fast travelling rod tip.

It's also fairly seldom that the T-top actually affords you much protection from the sun. Most fishing is done early morning or late afternoon, sun angles that won't provide much shade.

I've heard a few people argue that a T-top provides a bit of lift whist underway, but, never having owned a boat with one, I can't say.

Whilst the T-top is on, try fishing with it, then take it off and try that.

Edit: Oh, lots of blokes use them to store rods (projecting upward from s/s tubes on the back edge of the T-top) but I keep my rods down under the gunnels and on the side of the console.

I had one in the mid 90's

2 x 25 Mercs

Used to fish 2 adults and a Jnr

Would take on a bit of H20 when on the drift but was never too serious

Was a stunning Little boat, even got me and my old man safely home when the wind picked up off Cape point

Congrats and enjoy

Hi , Lacer is now in the Strand doing crayfish runs to Hangklip - I plan on going out in Struisbaai over the next couple of days - the hard top is still in place- one question though , the plastic plane things above the props , does it really affect the performance very much iow is it standard on these boats - Is it very risky to go to the 12 mile bank at Struis with this boat or would you stick to 5 mile and Mond areas - thanks
