hi guys going to Barham bay tomorrow, any help will be apreciated. dips/length of hook line/anything

I am not up to date with this venue and there are'nt any recent reports, or should I say, there are'nt ANY reports forthcoming these days on Sealine.

If I had to approach this dam this time of year, I would fish it as close to 100m as possible (thats now saying without knowing the profile of the bottom). Or even a bit further.

Fish as light as possible and use as little dips as possible. Dont overflood the whole bol. Hooklengths would depend on the consistency of the dam floor. Safe to say that a hooklength of 12-14cm would suffice.

Fish with your lines clipped at your preferred distance and have patience. Apparently a lot of cold weather is expected for this weekend.

so a thin line of something strong on one side of the boll & then a thin line of something sweet on the other, & one sweet hook bait on one hook & another strong bait on the other .

Yes I would do it the same as you mentioned, also try leaving your hooks unflavoured, but flavour the bom as you mentioned.

finally, I caught a good size, had no scale but the man next to me said that it was no less than 3.5 Kg. i was able to measure the size of 47 cm from mouth to begining of tale (not including the tale) & 17cm in width round about at the fatest part of the belly.

caught on a combo (FX & Banana/Doef) on the bomb. FX mallow on top hook & Tjop Tjop mallow on bottom hook. & dipped the Tjop Tjop in some Jamaica banana & putt some on the doef side of the bomb just to add some more strength.

& she bit between 1 & 6amon the Tjop tjop. neve gave any fight poor thing was half dead after taking some line in. only gave a wigle when the water was too swallow to for her to move in.

:wfish

the level of the dam is very low. soon people will be able to walk across to maanlig. further down they already are. the water is also in a bad state & smellling in some parts of the bank. i also saw a few dead fish near the bank so I didnt put this catch back because she didnt look like she was going to make it & if theres one thing I hate. its dead fish in a dam.

it bit in December. we whent to woelwaters on the vaal river, but you know there isnt much angling more for the fly guys. the following weekend we whent to henops pride in pretoria. & we didnt know what we were doing. I bought myself what I thought were good rods-they looked nice. we tied better knots on our shoes. nothing bits at the resort except for the worms on the resort we were told. then we got one of the guys to give us worms & man did they bit. my stiff Okuma rods bent & I nearly lost them. must be major Barbels in there, they took half of my line too, every knot breaking & coming loose-as I said we tied better knots on our shoes. then my wife showd me how to tie a knot & sinker vaal dam style.

but after those big cats bit at hennops Ive been hooked. but now I think I know what to do. soon we start fasting so this is my last weekend for a month. & then we going again for another weekend
