Gave up on surf fishing and spent the next day at the Nqorra river fishing Stumpies and Grunter (we were plagued by peckers) and once we left the Grunter came on and Zola and his clients managed 5 x 2-2.5kg Grunter.

So farewell to Mazeppa and on to Bushmans where we had a great family holiday courtesy of Kopstamp and got to fish on the river in his little runaround skiff with fresh fish every evening for the braai and a few tails of lost Kob on livies and many Stumpies and Blacktails on the grill.
Met up with Craig Thomassen who was fishing the river with his nephew but we didn't have nearly the success that the locals were having in the mouth with prawn, many nice Steenies making there showing but we had fun all the while.
Well out last day and off to Fish River point to fish the day with Grandpa, Trophy, Mannie, Tucker and some locals.

The wind was turning foul and although it was becoming very unpleasant I decided to make a last cast and slid out a tail bum while Trophy and gang packed to leave.
They were probably gone for half an hour when i got slack line and I picked up the rod and retrieved about 40m of line when I was all but pulled flat onto the rocks.
The fish chose course to the Fish River sun and it was clear that I was in trouble. It was taking line at will and never hesitated once. I took this pick of my Tn50 about 5 minutes before I had to lock down and hold on, losing my mainline just behind the windon.
Well that was that and it was back to the grindstone but the power of that non stop uninterrupted run will take me back for more.
The next day 4 locals from Grahamstown got out to the point and landed 12 Raggies 140-190kg and 1 x cow and one og them was also stripped to the drum.

Great Report Enigma. Was reading it last night as you were posting. Very Cool. Pity about the swim Bait trace. Can't wait for my boys to come shark fishing with Dad. Little bit small but one day.....
