Winter bass fishing tips

Hey guys,

Need some tips for bass fishing in the winter. Also, in general what lures do you recommend? I'm still in the learning curve of catching bass.

For winter bass i use soft plastics and you also need to reel in slow, i mean really slow.

Bass fishing in the winter wont ever be as productive as in summer but with the extra effort and patience you need for it, it can be quite rewarding should you land a nice fish.

Can you perhaps tell me what rig to use? texas? Also, what color to go with which day? Overcast and Sunny.

I've done a bit of googling but can I compare advice from the USA to fishing in SA?

Fish soft plastics on a drop-shot rig VERY SLOWLY.

Colour makes a difference, but not as much as the right action. 

Cast to deep drop-offs, points or humps in the bottom.

Finesse Fishing!

Spinning gear with light line. I use a medium action rod / fast with a 2500 reel spooled with either 8lb or 10lb Braid with a 8-10lb Fluorocarbon leader.

Fish either a dropshot or shaky head rig with a nice finesse worm. Colour will depend on the water you are fishing. You can also deadstick a weightless senko or finesse worm.

I second the above!
Finesse and light lines.
Water is colder and clearer than in summer...
