Hey man, try using the single splice, with double splice i found the dacron would bunch at one point and that cost me a eye!

HIya Boep,

Not bad at all for a 1st attempt! LoL

Why did you simply not follow my tutorial...I know the design is a mile better than the commercially purchased leaders.

You are going to save a good few bucks...well done!

Hey aqua the length dacron I use per windon is almost a meter long the leader is about 200mm into the dacron I wound the leader up into big coils for less line memory

Hey Boepens

I also made my first wind-on about 3 weeks ago, and have made about another 40 since then. Tried and tested on a couple of bags now, no problems. Gonna save a lot of bucks but lose a lot of time :fbash if you make a lot of them.

Nice Boepens. Wind-ons are the only way to go. Some will say that they part if the joint is pulled against rocks, if it's well made it will hold. I had a 1,5mm windon dragged through some reef at Fish Point by a 192cm male and the dacron got badly freyed yet it still held 100%

I make mine as per Trophy's tutorial.

I also make my own non-return clips & 9oz Grap sinkers, You save a fortune, it's the only way I can afford shark fishing LOL

If you're in town give me a call or PM me and I'll show you all you need to make the non return clips its actually quite simple.
There is a video on You Tube (sealine member I think) just search "making non return clip" or something like that.

Lucky bugger, I can only do the stitching at work. I have about 20 dacron pieces that have been stitched, now to put the leader in and bind it off. Just make sure you're dental floss is extremely tight, if you can move it up and down your leader line it's not tight enough.

I put the super glue on the dacron and wrap the dental floss while the glue is still wet. That way it's all pulled together nice & tight before it dries and there is no chance of the dental floss unravelling.

@Boepens, I'll see what's happening on the 19th & I'll try get down there for a throw.
I'm going to Fish Point this Saturday but I've just heard there is flooding in Cradock so I hope the flooding hasn't stretched to the Fish River catchment area otherwise we'll be buggered.

Also did my first the other day... need less to say it took me close to an hour...lol it came out not to bad. Used the tutorial of Trophy and some advise from Nielg and Trophy the one night. T, you have a pm...on bait, how is the freezer looking? except that it's white and leeg the last time I saw it.

Boepens looks good mate!
