Widenham high rocks

I would like to fish Widenham this weekend getting there early on Sunday morning but there have been some reports about the safety at this spot.   Can anyone give me an updated report on the safety of parking in the parking areas or at the service station?

Alternatively, does someone stay in the area where I could leave my car (and maybe get a shuttle to the beach)?

Lastly, anyone got an updated fishing report for this area?

Hi Wart, I heard that a spear fisherman had his car hi-jacked from the car park about a month ago, they found the car later that day at Umgababa, minus his diving gear and fish. When we fish this area we always leave our car at the service station, have never had a problem. As far as security on the beach we have never had a problem, we sometimes fish the whole night. As to what they are catchinng there now I cant say. Fishing is normaly very good during the sardine run though. Tight lines.

PS ; Abel Alexandre stays on the corner to the car park.

Thanks Richard ... I usually park at the service station too but we will be getting there at about 5am in the morning and I have never parked there during the night / dark. I usually single out one of the pump attendants and ask him to watch my car then tip him when I get back, that way they get to know you too.

Which car park are you talking about? The first one or the second one? Maybe I should wake up Abel to come and share some of his drop-shot tips with us. :fishn :lol:1

Ja thats what we do as well. The incident happened in the second car park as far as I know. I believe there was a bit of action at Rockey Bay yesterday, some garrick a kingfish and quite a few small greys, Ushaka happened to be there with their tanks so managed to take a few back with them.

Hi Wart

I thought CTown was the only place palqued by crime and i was wrong hey! This is sad the SAPD never seems to be around when one needs them they know the hotspots but always never have enough staff to asssit law abiding citizens.

The SW has started and our only hope is that it dies down overnight and gives us a break in the morning. I don't mind a bit of a drizzle but fishing in a howling SW is not much fun!!

Well despite a small SW (which picked up later and died down again) we fished Widenham high rocks. Parked at the service station which is a lot safer. Lots of Blacktail around; 1 x YB Rockcod and 1 x Sandshark caught by a mate of mine. Me = 1 x Blacktail !!!

Two other guys fishing in the same spot targeted the Blacktail and must have taken home about 10; they also left a mess on the rocks with beer bottles and sardine boxes etc. Not what we like to see.

The rocks have been well used and there is a lot of litter around as well as fishing line. Come on guys, what does it take to carry your rubbish back to civilisation and dispose of it correctly?? Pull your weight !!

BTW, the improved Speedmaster casts like a dream, the drag is super improved and the winding in really smooth and solid. Thanks for all the work you put in Old Salt.
