this is what a true fisherman wrote to me.

why does every one sit on the fence like vultures waiting for a person to catch a fish? why are they waiting on info to be published?

cant they start to work on their own ideas etc?

if every one puts effort into his local dam and study it a bit  more.then you will get greater success.every dam has got big fish but you need to find them and that's the challenge.rewards come with hard work.

big fish dont get big because they eat!no because they are clever and do have more brains than the smaller fish  

i feel every one should think bout this and go home and think a bit.hard work pays off.

this is not aimed at any one but just observation.

pls guys dont take it personal but use the info to great success.feel free to share views on this topic.its not a debate just a observation.no hard feelings meant

I agree.
Have a look at the freshwater fishing reports section.
Who writes all the fishing reports only a select few and many of those are people whom fish directly with me.

I try to get out every weekend - not always successful but I'm there and I report even if it is a blank.

Maybe if people shared experinces more they too would be more eager to get out there and learn about their local waters.

Sadly when it comes to the specimen frat -they are very tight lipped about both catches and locations......

Sharing information is good. You still have to use the information to catch the fish. We do it in our club and it makes a big difference!

yes,we really need to share.but some guys only fish a place when they see a fish come out.why must i share so that he can steal.he reports nothing.how are both parties going forward.

their are so much to learn.you can never learn enough but you can add to your knowledge

One does not have to be specific about locations. I fish predominantly big waters and I will not share my favorite spots even with the best of my boating partners.
Fact of the matter is that even if you left the location out - just sharing information gets people eager to go and try stuff out which will ultimately lead to catching bigger and better fish.
Lekker being an internet angler next best thing to the real thing when you can read about other's success's and failures.
Just have a look at the hits on the posts in the reports section - some guys go back and read them several times over

as a sealine member i think each one should post at least bout 1 outing and this will make this the best fresh water site in the world.share and care.

How about starting a thread on each venue, so when anyone fishes it, they can report on it, good or bad. that way each location will have a whole list of do's and don't and possibly encourage some healthy competition as well as get the guys chatting about the spots, tips, tricks, etc...

I fully understand why some keep private locations private, but for places which every angler knows about (the big dams, inanda, harties, etc...) why not share info on these locations. Promote the sport guys...

And to the guys who already post info, well done to you, i'm sure there are many anglers who thank you when they catch their first fish or new pb or just enjoy a day on the water... Keep it up!
