Why i love valsbaai, this time of the year...

So the last week has been interesting fishing in valsbaai.
We can definately see and feel the change in seasons, also more south westerly winds coming through, pushing some swell into the bay, causing some spots to start “working” again.
This week have been a mixed bag for me personally, with cob, elf, belman, galjoen, a small white musselcracker, and even a bandit galjoen in the mix.
The bait that did the damage was whitemussel- again proving itself to be one of the most universal baits, under the right conditions.
Enjoy the pics.

Nice Rean. Ons spot is dood op die oomblik. Benodig n mooi storm.

dit kan jy weer se. die gatjie maak so effens oop, en spoel dan weer vinnig toe- so dis maar rondskuif en soek die heel tyd.
hoop julle seisoen loop mooi!

Awesome Rean!

Dis baie mooi visse, knap gedaan!

Hoe dikwels word bandgaljoen in Valsbaai gevang? Ek was onder die indruk dat hulle in warmer water voorkom.

Nice man! Dit is awesome.
Ek het nog net eenkeer so streep galjoen gesien wat by arniston gevang was en dit was n baie cool vis.Bandit se lyf is ook anders hy is nie net anders geverf nie.
Awesome om te hoor van krakertjie ook en mooi belman in die baai.
Jy nou n paar mooi belmanne gekry die laaste tyd.

Be interested to learn why white mussel worked well for you this time of the year and what conditions you refer to?
I always have a few mussel with me (enjoy jiving for them) but sometimes they come out clean and the wonderworm and/or redbait are preferred.

this time of the year i found mussel to be a great allround bait- and is easy to get hold of. prawn and worm is just as good, but, fishing with white mussel is easier when standing waist deep in the water.
i will start switching over to redbait, a bit later in the season, - just waiting for some proper storms to come through.
