personally, I would not do a white-mussel bait like that. You will miss 90% of your bites. fact.
especially when the fish are finicky!
looking at white-mussel, you will see the "tongue" and the guts of the mussel. always have the guts around your hook point, and not the tongue. most days, the Galjoen will only take the guts of the mussel, (only one or two half hearted bumps), leaving you only with the tongue part around the bend of the hook.
whitemussel is such a soft bait that you can afford to bait up similar to a J-hook presentation. just make sure your hookpoint is proud AF.
