So I have been working away for then past month and have sadly not had much time to get on to the Forum!! But I have managed to sneak away to get a couple of trips in!!
Fishing has been tough though during June with odd weather and the expected arrival of the Silver tide! We have seen many Dolphins and Whales around and as such I have had to work many different areas for fish! That being said, I have had a couple of good trips with the first trip rewarding us with some small to large Bonnies and some nice Yellow Fin Tuna. My clients eyes lit up as the Tuna all came at the same time - with the first line going we waited for a couple of seconds and Wham..... Lines 2, 3 and 4 went screaming away as well! Unfortunately one Tuna came off right at the boat but still 3 nice YFT and loads of Bonnies made for some good fun, we were also rewarded with some nice Englishmen, Slingers and Snappers from the Depths!!
The following week I ended up with a booking for the Friday! This trip was with some clients I had, had on board before, Riaz and his mates! The guys are all keen fishermen and have a great love for the deep so that is where we headed to the deep to look for some big Tuna! And although the big Tuna eluded us, we did get some nice size YFT, but the bottom fishing was more rewarding when we had many different species caught from Rosie Goat Fish to Zebra Fish and then loads of Red Fish from nice size Snappers to Slingers and some Englishmen!
Then I took out Chris, Steven, and Felicity who said she was a bad luck charm when it came to fishing as she never caught fish….. in fact she said “ fish seam to hide away when I am around†after running from the south to the north things where looking bleak for this trip as 3 hours in and we didn’t even get a single pull… “Last time you come fishing†I said to Felicity... and no sooner had those words left my mouth that we had a take……. So as she was the bad luck charm she could fight the first fish and hopefully end what was begining to look like a rather dry spell!! And after a good 10 to 15 min we boated a nice 20kg WAHOOOOOOO measuring in at 146cm, this now disproved that Felicity was a bad luck charm! As when we started scratching on the bottom she ended up with a triple up: 2 Slingers and 1 Snapper on her first down! Steven got a nice Rubber Lip of about 5 kg and Chris kept us going with more Slingers and a nice 3kg Half-moon Rock Cod!
Even managed to get is a harbour trip where the guys got some nice Spotted grunter and a rather large maas baanker!
The yesterday I have 2 kewi’s on board for a couple of hours of Bottom fishing! John and Larry things started off slow while we trolled out to the bottom marks! But once there we had loads of fun catching Slinger, Snapper, Rock cod and some nice Bronze bream and even a nice Rubber lips which gave then a good rev!
So the fishing has not been all that bad with many different fish coming out!
