Which of the two is the best.

Korda Krank or Gardner Continental Mugga? Which of the two designs should give the highest catch rate? The Korda has a wider gap, can that make it the winner?

Gardner hooks for me all the way - Can't get used to any Korda hook design especially the Krank.

Besides though the hook is the most important part of your terminal set up - sharpness/strength. Ultimately it's how you present that bait configuration that determines your catch rate.

Thanks, your answer is great since I cannot find any krank hooks to buy anyway. my next question would have been where to buy them

I've used both and have on numerous occasions opened the Kranks,hands down the Gardners

gardner continentals all the way

no better hook, versatile can be used for different presentations and the any continental hook will be up for the task, be it, a small carp or a 40+

you cannot go wrong with the Gardners

Can I ask here instead of opening a new thread. Is a no 2 hook too big when using a 15mm Pop-Up?
I see lots of photos where the hook looks big in relation to the bait, but only in cases where pop-ups are used.

Gardner Continental Muggas are the best,for all the reasons stated above.Korda hooks are rubbish,in my experience,but if you really want them,Alloutangling in Centurion has a comprehensive range.I use a size 5 Gardner chod with pop ups up to 15mm.Size 4 for baits up to 20mm.

I use both the Mugga & Krank.
Both great hooks for diff applications. Use the mugga on blowback mostly with parties and the Krank on IQ-D and bottom baits.

Never used the IQ D Rig - Can't really say why. I prefer the blow-back rig where I can still wafter the bait ...

Then again I also prefer the simple approaches

Hooks - Gardner wide gape - size 2 & 4 Talon tip and mugga size 2 & 4 ....

I see you use size 2 hooks. Many people say its too big. What size baits do you use with the size 2's? If it is not a secret

I only use 20mm hook baits - sometimes double 20mm boilies.

My favorite size is size 4 no doubt - depends what I'm fishing for .......

there is no real secret to it,

you can guage with your eye man, don't over think it, I use 15mm pop ups on size 4 and 6 hooks, and 20mm pop ups on size four and size 2 hooks,

haven't really used bigger than that,

but I mean, it would be silly to use a 10 or 12mm single pop up on a size 2 hook!!
just need to be practical
