Which Digital Scale?

I got to agree that an appropriate sling must be the way to go - got to cause the least damage. The comments on the Zara Spook are well founded, I posted a thread here about the survivability of a fish I caught where the back treble took the fish in the gill plate region - lots of blood from that hook wound - I too always believed that anywhere near the gills was out of bounds, hence my question.

Has anyone, and I mean anyone, actually got the proper sling here. I have never seen it used, not even on "Innovate, Educate & Conservate" (ESA).

Nope, I used to have one when I was a land based angler. Now, I just use my scale, and the hook in the lower jaw. I seriously do not see a problem with this at all.

So i know we have talked about this...and after planking my name by claming a fish to be 2KG and then it was smaller...fishton told me to buy a digital scale....well all of you told me...lol
So i bought this cheepy for R150.00 at hengelaars paradys
Its a 8kg rapala digital scale, doubt it that i will catch anything bigger than 8kg.

Basslover, very nice scales those, you can ask my boyz.....................cause they go for crankbaits and catch baber in the 8kg bracket................luckily I took the 25kg one and belieive me even in the 2kg range for bass it is as accurate..............I will also recommend the Rapala digitals.:SSS

Just some advice here on digital scales. I remember an extensive thread on this topic on another bass site. One of the members was in the digital scale game and warned us of over stressing these scales, and will result in permanent damage.

Over stress:
If a scale is rated to 8kg's, never put anything on here that even looks close to this. (Herman, you'll be alright here;))
The second thing is never physically pull the thing to check your 'potentcy' (Herman, be careful here now :))

I never owned a fishing scale before and can get this of a friend of mine for R200. Never been used.

Is this a good price?

Overload alarming
Auto turning off 1 min. after display is invariable
Nett weight: 230g
