Hi guys,

Im on my way up to Sedgefield this weekend and have never dived in the area. Any decent spots you could recomend for a shore based diver?

Much appreciated,

Matt

The only spot I know around there is buffels bay the turnoff is between knysna and sedgefield when you get there you will see there are plenty places to dive from just keep clear of the slip as I have had some close encounters with divers in the past.

Hi, I would phone Neels at Pili Pili Outdoor if I were you, they go diving a lot and all over the place - there are a few spots actually. Sorry, I do not have his number with me. His other business is Bungalo Restaurant, if you want to do a search.

Hey,

Unfortunatly Buffels bay is a reserve for 1nm to sea and no spearfishing is allowed, only angling from the side (Unfair to us spearo's in my opinion)

Your best bet would probably to dive Gerrickes point in Sedgefield, you can expect to get Cracker, the odd leerie, roman's, Galjoen and Hottie.

The water is cold and dirty here at the moment (knysna) but hopefully it should be better by Saturday/Sunday...Looking at Windguru, i'd say your best bet for Gerrickes should be Saturday.

Give us a shout if you need any other info on the area.

Shot for the info, Gerrikes was the only other name that came up on my searches.

Ill probably only get to dive Saturday anyway so that’s perfect.

Much appreciated!!

Jump in at Gerickes, on the western side and swim around to exit on the eastern side.

There seems to be a current running out from the western side, so it is easy to swim out there.

SA record Red Steenbras was shot there.
