Where are the fish?

This gully looked very fishy to me. Fished the entire length of it for about 2 hours - not a bite. water temp was around 17-18 degrees and 2 hours after low tide. tried redbait, prawn, tjokka, crab and fish bait.

ha so there were some fish! my uncle picked up a very nice fish on that very beach with a live strepie, always reckoned it was a gulley but seeing this pic it coulda been a hound too

there are plenty fish there, dived the area on a few occasions

Proebeer kombinasies volgende keer.

Looks perfect!  All I can think is that your redbait wasn't vrot enough! :p

Nah, I've been in similar situations where everything seems perfect, except the outcome!  That's why experience of a spot and the conditions that determines success at the spot (aka "local knowledge") is key to consistent fishing success!

Doesn't matter how well you can read the water, if the fish isn't there for whatever reason, you're out of luck!  Try hunting steenbras...

Finding perfect-looking water and leaving hours later without a bite is just horrible!  Still beats a day at work!! :p

around 10 guys were fishing that beach over the weekend. I saw 4 hounds coming out, all pretty decent size. one guy caught a nice steenbras of around 5 kgs.

And even better if you have a good fishing mate with you for the day. No fish but fishy stories and collective memories make for a great day at the water, just as long as you are fishing in God's big blue.
