The weekend saw Saturday and Sunday having huge swells which made fishing impossible. Two people drowned at the popular Wolfgat nature reserve and Mouille Point. When the SE tuned NW yesterday, I had to wet a line at my favourite Winter spot. The cops at Mnandi told me to phone the Metro Police if I encounter any problems (021)5961999.
Full of expectation, I head to the water, the water looks great ! Deon quickly gets an enquiry, then Haroun, then me, but no takers ! Everybody re-rigs and then the stumps came on the bite ! Deon AKA Silwervis goes vas with a decent fish, he brings it in steadily ! It's a stump and huge mullet at the same time !
He quickly releases the stump and slides the mullet ! The mullet stays in the water for about an hour before he gets a decent pick-up, It's either a shark or a huge cob ! He plays the fish nicely to the side, it's a decent 1.2m, 7 stripe catshark ! I get an optel and the rod takes a hard knock on the rocks ! EINA !! I see there's a few "scratches" on the rod and I was hoping it's superficial ! Next cast and "CLUCK !!" the rod shatters in the mid-section !! Fishing is over for the night !!
In total Haroun caught 4 Stump and Deon 3, me NONE !! Let's see how quick the INVISIBLE MAN's going to take to replace my rod !
