Viskoors was running high on Friday and decided that the best tide to fish would be early Saturday morning from 5:30, pushing tide... Up bright and early, the weather looks AWESOME !!! I'm on a lone mission and safety is 1st priority but I still want to catch fish ! I decide to fish Graskoppie where the water is nice and deep but not as deep as location "X" LOL!
I eventually get the water after having to take a detour because of a 21km race in Mitchell's Plain
I get to the water and it's as flat as a dam, DAMN !
but the one consilation is that the water had some colour !
It's 7am and I'm already sweating a dammetjie in my wader !! I don't leave my bait too long in the water as I want to see if there's any aasvreters around...
This carries on for the first half hour, when I decided to de-bone a whole Hout Bay Sard with a float inside it, but this time I have a 10/0 main hook and a 4/0 trap hook...
I get a pick-up that gives ma a cold sweat ! The fish is on but his peeling line off my reel at 100KM/H !!
I "played" the fish briefly when a I felt the hooks pulling !!
After inspection, I see that the fish took on the trap hook and bent it open !!
Next cast I rig a 10/0 main and trap hook ! He won't get a away now ! Cast on the same spot and what's the chances of getting another pick-up??
En wraggies, I get another optel and I think to myself, OH, yes, you're mine !! When after another brief tussle I feel slack in my line AGAIN !!
This time my sard was decapitated, missed both hooks !! WTF !!!
OK, OK, I try that "hole" AGAIN ! This time I get picked up by a blue ray of 80cm, boy what a mission to land that mother when I hear TWANG !! My tip of my Fin-Nor 1403 rod stukkend !!! I bought the rod 6mnth ago at Suburban and it has a 12month guarantee, OR SO I THOUGHT !
I take the rod back and thinking that I have 12months guarantee, they'll replace the rod or the tip at least !??
After a heated debate with Marlin and the rep replacing the tip, I get a call today saying that I'll be getting a new tip !!
