Land locked has basically hit the nail on the head with his advice, Winter Basing is predominantly slower and deeper, with the likes of Senko's barely moving (just a slight twitch every now and then), having said that, do not overlook clear sky days (even if it's cold) as them Green Thangs still need to feed.
You can also try "Powerfishing", yes power fishing, burning a spinner or vionlent jigging and so forth to get reaction bites rather than trying to entice bites as they would from feeding normally.
But again Slow and deep is the normal school of thought for winter, just check out when these guys go hunting in the shallows when the water heats up a bit, normally in the afternoon (late afternoon) just before dusk sets in.
Happy Hunting those LGF's
