lack of rain this summer ,a huge algea bloom leading to lack of oxygen in water , major pollution- sewage spill council broke a pipe under the road . Opening the mouth on the spring tide then closing it too soon , all this caused the present situation . Mouth open till the 9th for the spring tide to try and drain the polluted water . thats it in a nut shell .
PS dont eat any fish coming out the vlei know of one seriouse case of gastro after a family ate a leerie out of vlei.
