What to use for top coat

Hi there guys. What do you guys use as your lure topcoat.

So far I have tried the hard varnish they use in decoupage. It is a milky thick liquid that seems to be OK. Only downside is that it does not cure very hard. Also seem to scratch easy.

Also, do you dip your lures in the topcoat or do you airbrush it on.
