Ultimate Jigging Rod is a tough call, kinda like the ultimate Car, or reel, or woman.... different strokes for different folks so they say...
A couple key companents for me:
1 - Length I prefer jigging rods between 5 and 5'8 in length for heavier applications. One can go longer on lighter set ups, say for jigging under 120 grams, but generally I prefer shorter rods. More leverage, less pressure on the angler
2 - As TW mention, plenty of backbone but with a softer tip and progressive parabolic action throughout the blank to enable you to work a wide range of jigs, and so that the rod action itself helps you to work the jig. Too stiff and its tiring, to soft and you lose backbone and don't work the jig properly.
3 - 100% Carbon or Composite mix? All very dependant one what the manufacturer can achieve.... most blanks are a mix, and getting that mix right is important. You want the sensitivity, speed, and weight reduction of Carbon, and with teh right amount of glass or whatevr composite is in there, to keep the strength and flex...
4 - Regarding guide placements, grip lengths etc, these are all personall things really, as the perfect rod will be customised for your exact measurements.... Guide placement depends very much on the rods action too...
5 - Weight Obviously as light as possible without losing strength is key... jigging is super active, so you wanna cut the weight down as much as possible.
So yeah, lots to consider.... obviously top quality companents throughtout, like reel seats and guides are imperative too...
