Ja, a couple of years ago we had a sardine run in Houtbay. The bugger swam between the sards in the surf

Think Filefish might be correct... don't see the file though?

It could be a Trigger fish..... There are 40 species with at least 12 sub species (ie. up to 500 kinds of Trigger fishes) known.

But having said that I was educated on another thread and now I believe it is most likely a Filefish of sorts, also very closely related to the Trigger fish.

There are over 100 species of Filefish and both the Filefish and Trigger fish are closely related to puffer fish.

They have a vast array of anatomy and fin forms that differ hugely from sub species to sub species. But what is common in many species of FileFish is the single spine on the Dorsal
