what GPS for a kayak

Hi there fellows, Pls advice a practical not to expensive GPS for a Kayak and if possible why U recommend it and where can I get one. Thanks

On a kayak a handheld will outlast a mounted one, if the handheld is in a condom/waterproof pouch.
Government issue condoms do have a usefull purpose, they work great for phones,cigs and other small need to stay dry items while at sea.

a mounted one needs an external battery and will be exposed to the elements, but the advantage is that it is there in front of your face, especially useful on boats, not such a big plus on kayaks

I would say go handheld.

While on the subject, a tampon in your capsize bottle or 'keep dry' bag is also a great way of 'containing' a small leak.

you guys way funny - its hard not to join in the comments...oops that one just slipped out. Seriously though, for cost, durability and simplicity, i chose a small Garmin handheld. i put it in a waterproof pouch with a short lanyard and a clip - either clipped to pdf in front pocket or clipped to an eye on my boat and lies on the fish-hatch lid when i'm navigating. works a treat.

Hey John, for stuff like cell phones its basically a new one every time because for it to be properly waterproof you have to knot the end; so you have to rip it to charege it etc.

i can imagine iwould need to find a new pharmacy if i go and ask the pharmacy lady for assistance with the best type of of tampon to buy for my man-overboard box, right after ive bought rubbers for my mobile...LOL ;-)

That's a very good idea

Think I must go and ask them,

which rubbers will give me the best protection in very wet conditions ... to protect my "electronic" devices

which of the other things can absorb the most liquid in VERY WET CONDITIONS, to protect my electronic devices

and then after her face has changed from red to yellow to blue and every colour I will explain to her in more detail ...
