Howzit SJF. I see nobody is rushing to give advice. Unfortunately I am not familiar with either product as I don't keep up to date with Daiwa or Blue Marlin products. However, if the reel has corrosion resistant bearings (4 or more) and a smooth drag it should be okay - a quick retrieve would also be nice (ie. above 30" per crank). The attributes of the rod may have already been discussed on this site, try a search. Otherwise, if it is from 6-8 ft long with most of the bend at the tip, light and rated to cast from 1/8 to 3/4 ounce it should suffice. Never owned one, but have been led to believe that Blue Marlin produces a reasonable product. The next, and possibly most critical part of your tackle is the line. Settle for nothing other than Fireline. 6 - 14lb will do the trick. I would recommend one spool with 6 and the other with 10. Get a good quality flourocarbon line as leader. Siglon (get 20lb) is normally well priced. Now you're pretty much set, except for spending about three times more than you've done so far on jigheads and plastics.
PS: I envy you, living in the best town is SA. Enjoy it!
