Hi There, I am new to the kite fishing thing and I need a KP reel, do you know where they are obtainable from?? I have been looking for days on Internet, no luck so far!

My tip for using any KP to fly a kite:
To prevent it from cracking or bursting (and believe me they do break) is to fill the centre with fiberglass resin, let it dry and then turn the reel around. then drill 3-4 holes right through the KP's centre so that it just enters the fiberglass on the other side. Then fill this side also with fiberglass resin. By doing this, you are reinforcing the wall where the KPs crack due to tension. Mine cracked on my second outing but I've put it into a press to make it straight again and then did my modification/conversion brakpan style and it works like a charm.
Will post pics as to help my explanation where my Ingels have failed me

Hi All, I've used to fly a kite on a mono line and just recently upgraded to a braid.
It is slipery and I don't know how to attach a release clip to that.
Dacron tubing is one option. They sell the dacron in large spools and costly.
Are there any other options available ?

If I understand you correctly then you only need maybe 8-10 inches of Dacron to slide over your braid in order to tie to your dropper without the braid cutting into itself ,and or to be able to make a knot with a less slippery surface line.
If that is the case and you cannot bum a short length of Dacron off somebody, and you have already searched Flyfishing stockists as they sometimes stock short lengths to make looped connections.Then I would recommend searching for a length of Jerry Brown or similar type of braid which is hollow-core similar to Dacron. Even a length of very thick 200lbs Power-pro or HMP-Braid could do the job..
Once you have your braid through this section of ''tubing'',you can obviously leave it on period as it will wind onto your reel without any hassles. I suspect that Mullers'kites (under correction) have a Triangular-shaped dropper which is tied in the same way i.e using a Dacron-sleeve of sorts.
Keep us posted.

Fold the braid double and tie an improved clinch or Polamar knot with the doubled loop.
General rule of thumb for braid is to simply increase the number of turns in your knot. The reason the knots slip is that braid does not stretch so it needs a larger surface to grip over.
So if you normally use 4 turns in your nylon knot to tie the release clip, use the same knot with 8 -10 turns and it will hold 100%

The 'tube' you are looking for will be in any braided rope.
Get yourself some braided lashing rope around 5mm
Cut off a short length...say 20cms and open the frayed end...you will find a center 'heart' pull/remove this and then you have the tube.
You can utilize a cigarette lighter to burn the frayed ends of the tube, best that you thread the 'tube' on a piece of wire, so that you dont burn the ends closed.
Got it?
