what angling DOESNT need!

im copying this from another site (with their permission).  i hope it is in order with the moderators here.

i dont want this to turn it into a witchhunt. rather see it as a mistake made, and something we can all learn from. we get enough pressure from non anglers about our chosen sport, and sometimes we are just our own worst enemy.

"As most of you know KZNF had their league event at Zinwazi yesterday. What greeted us was a beach of filth like we have not witnessed before.

Its a great pity how the shad fishermen allways get the stigma. Unused sardines in boxes , empty plastic bottles , hundreds of metres of line and worst of all traces with large hooks allover the beach.

We met a fellow Angler Johan from Tugela who fishes in the Zululand Union. He was also disgusted with the state and informed us that there was a BIG CHAMPIONS COMP held here yesterday by the NATAL division. He gave us the name and number of the chairmen MR Corrie Groenwalt. We phoned him reported the state of the beach and indicated he would send someone to help clean up

However as soon as the rain stopped and we saw several group of kids walking towards us we decided to clean up. As responsible anglers we REALLY did not want one of the kids to end up with a SHARK hook in their feet.

So some of the guys from KZNF took two hours OFF their FISHING TIME in out competition to clean up. We also lit a small fire to get off the hundreds metres of fishing line with rotting bait. A representative from the Anglers Union did arrive after most the cleanup was finished. He was really disgusted at what he witnessed.

The really sad thing about this is that we were shown WHATTAPP messages that late on SATURDAY evening some members that fished this event were concerned about the mess and even indicated that their might be a problems with the locals how the beach was left.

I have sent the full amount of PHOTOS to the chairperson. I will post a few here as I really think the authorities in the angling union will handle it in the proper manner."

Disgrace! Have you ever been to beespens in Cape Town to name just one of the places, kalk bay harbour another, plastic bags, hooks line, bloodfilled condoms, beerbottles, pilchard boxes etc. If i have to include everything i have seen it would be one of my longest post. If everyone starts by just picking up the things they have brought and used it would be a great start, just pack in a plastic bag to put all your rubbish in. in the end it would be for our own benifit because when u throw your line in all these plastic things stick to your line gut and hooks get tangled and it is just very irretating:X Hou my net vas!!!. With treknetters raping our fish we fluffing up(as a better word) the beach. Hoe lank gaan ons nog lekker kan visvang. Miskien moet ek begin darts speel :swear

I think you didn't read my initial post properly. It was the KZNF guys doing the picking up the day after the natal division had their champions comp on the Saturday. And secondly, I think you have us confused with another group concerning mazeppa.
