Went to Strubens yesterday and boy was I surprised?!
It seems new rules are in place:

1. Only 7 swims available for 'carp' fishing...I'm sure it's for ALL fishing though
2. Only 1 rod per persone fishing...no limit yet on amount of fishers per swim
3. No tents or gazebo's allowed.
4. The wall is to be free of obsticles and open at all times
5. The security guard can call the cops to trhow you out if they want at anytime for any reason

I wonder who thought these rules up and do they have any idea what angling is about? I can appreciate the 1 rod per angler thing, but then limit the swims to 2 anglers per swim.

Anyway, the bank grass is ridiculously long.

There are quite a lot of posts about the dam and I'm sure you could Google it as well. It called Strubens Bird Sanctuary and Dam. I can give you directions, but I'll need to know from where you'd be driving from.

Word of caution: this dam is under extreme pressure from all the fishing. There are also new rules to the dam. You are only allowed to take in 2 rods per angler.

There are no boats allowed(not even bait boats). The dam is open from 06h00 to 18h00...which means some guys will be there from 04h30 to get the best spot.

Good luck and have fun...but read all the posts you possibly can before going out there...and afoid swim 8 unless you fishing with 30lb braid.

ohh Strubens Bird Sanctuary, i think i knw where it is now.
is it down the road from menlyn mall ? wow i didn't know there was a dam there.

what do you mean when you say the dam is under pressure from all fishing?

The dam is really small. Not a day goes by that someone isn't fishing there trying to catch carp. So the carp there are super cautious. You need to bring your best if you want to catch carp there. I've gone there with 2 other guys and watch how 1 of the guys absolutly smoking it there...while there other guy and I blanked miseribly!
The carp there are really really tense! So good luck. Best advise I can give you is try for swim 2 and try to cast past the jeti. Other than that, just good luck.
