Welgevonden estate

Hi all

I am currently studying in Stellenbosch and would like to find a few places to fuel my need to fish.
I noticed that the Welgevonden estate has a large dam and I have access to go into the estate.
Does anyone know if there are bass willing to bite in the dam, and if it is allowed to fish there?

There is a few bass, you see them following the carp as you reel them in. But they are really really small and really difficult to catch on lures, so I would say it is a waste of time to target them, rather target carp if you want to catch something at Welgevonden. Another spot you could try is l'avenir wine estate, you just have to buy a bottle of wine to be allowed to fish there.

And if you go and fish there, PLEASE clean up after yourself. A few weeks back they almost banned fishing at the dam because there was hooks and line laying around where the parents and their kids sit and play next to the dam.

Welgevonden estate dam is well known for the monster barbel that swims there. Bass not so much.
