The Gus Kohlner Championship's are held every year where all the guys who made the various South African teams (seniors A and B, masters, ladies, juniors and development anglers) compete against each other. This is most probably the most hotly contested championship I have seen, really competitive angling at it's best (and worst) as small errors in judgement can make you win or lose.
This year it is held in Hamburg (just outside of East London) towards the end of October and many go along to either participate or watch the action on display.

Use of fish the Strandfontein area (Muizies to Cones) a helluva lot in the late eighties, early nineties, but have found my sweet spots being Pearly beach (with some Pearly derm), Struis and Stilbaai much more to my liking. Will post more once we have our Stilbaai trip next weekend.
