How far out where they?

I was freediving about 500m off the old slipway on Sunday afternoon and say some nice steenbras as well. Going in with my gun on Saturday morning :wfish

They were about 500 meters in. If you draw a straight line out from the pier, you will land on this reef. I guess the steenie must have been at least 8 - 9 Kg. We caught a 6 Kg Poensie off the same reef, straight after the guy shot his steenie.

1.9kg Dageraad, you will be hard pressed to get a better fish. What depth and was it single, shoal etc?

It was a single fish although there were a few others around. It was a shore dive so I did not have a fishfinder to give accurate depth but I would say about 12-13m

There is a Dageraad swimming around in the kelp tank at the Two Oceans aquarium that has to be at least 6-7kg,awesome fish !

Nice fish

Where did you get them, at the Pier or the Slipway reef?

When facing the peer and Hobie beach from the site it would be just to the left of the peer, but it was a good 800m out.

I might go out on Saturday morning early, all depends what PE's weather decides to do. Will let you know closer to the time.
