Well Guys the weather wasn’t the greatest this weekend but I defeated the odds and just had to wet a line. I fished at Westbrook this weekend. Saturday the rain coupled with the South Westerly made fishing almost impossible but I was on the shoreline and persevered to have that pull, sadly to no avail. Sunday things were looking good and I was on the beach for an afternoon’s session the weather played it part and with the incoming tide the water was running deep. I lost a Karanteen (bait) on slide, clean out, them greys are around. sadly no greys for me that day, :headbThe Parksbord were around as couple anglers reported shad been caught, however it must be said that none of the anglers were questioned about the validity of their licenses, or even if they had licenses, what baffles me is that the Parksboard didn’t even step on to the sea sand, nor did they check any of the coolers for shad, instead they made idle chat and jokes with a group of fisherman, this was I guess a detour or camo from having the Parksboard search their boxes(the very same guys that had the shad). :swearBeen en angler sadly this must be said[/i], on Sunday Anglers from a local Fishing club were seen catching shad, more shockingly they were keeping, although they didn’t have there club uniforms on(some of them did) they can still be identified as members of a certain club, Now tell me guys what examples are these anglers setting???Im sure responsibility should play a role here, well guys a lil bit of info for you’ll the season is opening on Saturday, NOT LIKE MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE TO THOSE WHO CONTINUED CATCHING THESE FISH DURING THE BAN SEASON, SO YOU’LL CAN GO AHEAD AND CONTINUE ROBBING THE OCEAN[/i]???[/b] never the less I went home smiling as I Played my role and saw the safe return of a shad caught by a fellow angler, gosh it felt good, although there were some confused faces, hopefully next time those guys catch a shad they will remember me and the smile I had on my face when returning that shad!!!
Another thing to be mentioned guys is that fishing is now banned at Westbrook beach between the lifeguard building and the north staircase, yip its the locals stirring cr#p again, upon questioning the Parksbord they said that it was now a bathing beach and that no fishing was allowed, even after 16:00 pm, but I guess its only a portion of the beach and can be bared with.[/i]
