please note that 3 bonnies where kept and all other fish were released to fight "me" another day in ten years to time. it was an exciting day of fishing until the wind started to howl and got worse because my battery died when i was on the centre bank. but we made it home.

Just goes to show, it's not about the size of the catch, but the sport of fooling the critters to get them to bite, and then catching a few.

I will take quantity over quality any day. My rule is just to downsize your tackle.

we were fishing with cracker and red eye and the lure for drop shot was berkley pearl blue shad with a very light jig head.

had the bust up with a red eye head.

Those are not bonnies, but actually Torpedo Scads. They give a lovely fight on the drop shot.
Looks like you had buckets of fun.

It can be maasbankers (big ones) as well. If it's got a ridge on the side of their body, it's definitely maasbankers.

I agree that those are mozzies (maasbankers). They're just outsized bus ones! Nice to see that there is quality baitfish like that in the harbour.

And where there is bait fish, there is predator fish. Predator fish obviously has to be bigger than bait fish...

And that's probably what broke you off there salty
