we fished at a private venue past Oranjeville heading to Jim Fouche

Got there on friday but was to windy so we stayed indoors.

We fished started fishing on saturday morning about 8am
on saturday we caught about 15 - 25 fish (carp, muddies, yellow's) the water was really cold lines fished around 60 - 80 meter's all cast from the shore, the wind picked up later in the day. Tried fishing at night was also cold it was very calm but we had no bites.

Sunday we were at the water around 7am picked up 10 - 15 fish and packed up by 2pm tempo was around 30 minutes a fish though the sizes were nothing to brag about. the biggest was between 1 - 1.5 kg.

The Otters came at night and stole the fish at night from the keep net.

The fish took on all baits and dips, Ie SWD + floaties

yeah it was encouraging...

i noticed that i only caught on the bottom hook with my traces which was fixed and sliding rietvlei?

i couldn't understand why? do you have any idea's?

its a mystery... 90% of all fish are on the bottom hook...

I experience the same. I fish a sliding rietvlei and 99% of my fish is on the bottom hook...
Very strange...

Its the hook that is closer to the feed. The top hook slide away when sinking. The fish gets hooked while sucking in the feed so its not like the take the hook on purpose. If you do get fish on the top hook it usually means it was taken on purpose.

Ek ondervind dieselfde, en waarom daar manne wat beweer jou byt tempo neem toe as mens met die babyshoes strop hengel of dit waar is sal ek nie kan se nie. Ek self is nou maar een keer 'n gly rietvlei ou en dink nie daar is n better strop nie.

Ek het ook al ondervind dat die vis wat die boonste hoek vat gewoonlik bietjie groter is.

I found that if you make your hook link at the bottom longer then your bite tempo also slows down. This proves once again that 99% of your fish gets hooked while feeding on the bom.
