hiya Sealiners.


i just discovered a wasp colony, they must have moved in over the last week or so...any expert advice on how to get rid of them?

Doom and lighter makes a nice flame thrower ,burn the nest and they wont come back ,dont burn the house down,and oh ja ,run

You cant spray them with poison. The only way is to use the doom ans lighter so you singe their wings and the drop because they cant fly and sting you. Be humane by stomping on them asap.

Light a rag dipped in paraffin on the end of a stick to burn nest and get rid of scent.

Roll up a newspaper, light it & burn them, stomp the ones that drop to the ground & dispose of the nest

Eish the fire is a risk. I just sprayed them with doom and they dropped dead. I then destroyed the nest with a broomstick and threw it in the bin and cleaned the area with some soapy water, they never returned

Fire is a bit risky!
Use the outdoor version of Doom- lasts for months.
I regularly get smaller nests in my irrigation field unit boxes and if it is cool, even summer mornings, I use my leatherman to pinch them one by one dead. Requires a steady hand and a faster start than Usain Bolt.

You will have them back there next year again- they love certain spots.

A while back they sold a 1 litre container of (I think) Target with a squeeze trigger that squirts a long distance. The insect poison is a bit thick in consistency. You can easily stand 3-4 metres away and squirt the nest a couple times. Even if you don't kill them all, they wont go back.

Why be worried about them? I get quite a few nests around our house every summer and they've never harmed us. They're quite happy to go on with their business unless you disturb them. Interesting creatures they are

we have 6month old twins, so we did not want any unforeseen issues, thus removing the risk...

i doomed em then flamed the nest

Also a good way is take boiling water in a jug and throw at nest , wasps fall to ground very quickly and cannot fly , then doom them when on the ground.

eradicating wasps to protect ones children has ZERO influence on Rhino Poaching and over fishing/poaching.
