I'm also at my wits end as far as crime. We had a brick through our window at 4am a month ago. A week or so ago my car was also broken into while I was windsurfing on the PE beachfront.
There is now nowhere that I feel I can leave my car alone. Which in turn means my enjoyment of my outdoor activities is restricted. I've been going to that beach since I was 10 years old.
Since 1994, the criminal element in SA, is growing rapidly and seemingly not a policeman in the country is prepared to get off his oversized ass to do anything about it.
Final point, under economic sanctions pre 1994 our Rand was R7 odd to the pound. (In my passport)Under 14 years of the ANC it ranges between R14 and R20.
Make your own conclusions
From the cops that do arrive at crime scenes, I've repeated heard them telling people. If you shoot an intruder, get rid of the body in any way possible. It will be the ONLY justice forthcoming. If it goes to court, he'll get off and come visit you in the early hours again, this time to finish the job.
Makes me mad!! Why do we all have to carry guns? To make it a level playing field?
