My son & I fished the above and finished 5th out of 12 teams. There were not a lot of fish boated which was a pity, on each day probably half a 50 gallon oil drum of fish.

We caught 4 snoek and some soldiers on Saturday but nothing made the 2kg weighin minimum. On Sunday we caught 12 snoek and a few of them weighed in. The weather on Sunday was not so good with the south easter blowing. Our skipper got a call that there was good fishing south at highpoint and we ran down there, luckily we were in a 19'-0'' Tomcat, I've still got aches and pains from the battering that we got.

I used my new Poseidon jigging rod and Daiwa Sealine Bull reel, which worked very well. Didn't get much luck with the jigs, but when I put a trace on and some chokka caught a good few Soldiers and Romans but nothing weighable, pulled in 3 at once a couple of times and the outfit worked very well.

I used it at the 38 fathom mark on Saturday and cought some slingers but not weighers, the outfit handled the depth quite well, the current was a problem andby the time the 300gram jigs hit bottom they were way off the reef.
