Elo!!! Just returned from the land of GOLD. Ey started getn real home sick!!! So wats up? Any catches from your trip up to Vidal, Mel G?

We had hard fishing on the Sat. A full wall of sand was kicking on Full tide right to Low tide. So we had to fish the lil gutters for a fish. Caught predominently Wave Garricks. I got a personal best of 47cm. :D  and a lil Black Tip kingie too.

Saw a Southern Pompano caught by a guy further South. Good catch!!! But ey notin else so i decided to catch a cray or two for a braai.:p

Nay Raggie. Look there are always chances but on that particular day, the gutter was so narrow! Prob 35m and then there was a wall of sand. Cud have raised a pull but rather released the lil guy.

Howzit, my trip to Vidal is only this coming weekend, hopefully the conditions get better, i'm sure that the monster winds and the spring tides would have broken those banks up a bit, so that when i get there...conditions are perfect!!! Lets hope and pray...So did u catch these fish over this weekend(17/18th Feb)??? And what  bait did the Pompano get caught on? I see the bait used for the kingie was chokka... So i'm hoping that this weekend fishing conditions are favorable and i have enough pictures to upload, to make u guys a bit jealous. How far South is the walk that u take (approx distance/time). Thanks alot, will call u when i'm at Vidal...

Tight lines

Thanks Raggie, much appreciated...Do u know of any bays that are past the South Ledges, cos i will also be fishing at night and the ledges can be a bit harrowing in the dark...

The stretch in front of the N4 beacan(betwean the bay and the south ledges) produce good fish at night, we once landed 3 raggies over 150kg in a time frame of 30 min, all on shad heads. Usually there are catches of cob and grunter on chokka combinations.

Hey there MelG.

Yea, tawt i missed you dat w/end! ;) Yup so far no plans so might be there dis w/end. Will let u know. Pompano was on straight sealice. Lil kingie was on chokka pink prawn combo. Yup Raggie be right. Sum gud raggies at the N4 beacon and blacks. Ledges throw sum gud kob and Raggies too. Just have a long gaff, strong sturdy boots and a decent lamp not a lil LED. Nu be gud. Try the front ledge at the bay at night too. Got sum big stumpies there.

Yep, hope that sand bar broken up a bit more. Its crap fishing gutters all day....

Big ups man, get them cams snapping n upload sum fish!!!:dude:

Howzit Volcom,

The walk from the bay to the ledges are extremely far. I tried walking on sat but I eventually gave up:(      Is there any other way to get to it

Thanks

Jason

Lol, aww sowi Bro Jason,

Nay Ledges aint dat far. Depends on how u pack too. I normally make pre-made traces, from scratch traces to my clips. Throw in one or four 5* nylon grapnels, 2 wire 8* sinkers, sum 80 and 1mm leader, cutters....and we gud to go! No hefty Orca bags and pension pipes etc.... Just a lil 12L Safari wid above contents, bait, H2O and ure rod. Walk from bay is bout 15-20min during low tide and of course a lil slower on high.

Back when i was a lil un, we used to use the trail down from the lighthouse but now NCS has deemed it private prop and whuped up a chain way down the access road:X. Its a hectic decent and climb but cuts the time by acres!! Sadly its a no go now.
