Couldnt agree more but to be honest the jet ski fraternity is so cliquey and fragmented that to get some mass action going would be a miracle!

I am well up for a mass protest at sites that place unfair restrictions on PWCs instead of restricting total craft launches. That goes for some ski boat clubs that are stuck in the Stone Ages as well.

Another major problem as far as I am concerned is the lack of a representative body looking after the interests of PWC fishermen. Yes there are members within existing clubs and yes we are happy to join 'ski boat' clubs and go with the flow but then we are treated as poor relations? That isnt helping is it so maybe we need a separate and dedicated club/s.

This topic deserves its own dedicated thread for starters....

I don't know why the ski-boat clubs look on jet ski's as poor relations. R100K for a decent jetski will buy you a decent ski-boat with 2 motors.Maybe its more about size than value.

My experience with the following 3 clubs
Richards Bay Ski Boat Club
East Rand Boat Club, and
Wahoo Club.
makes me believe that the official club policy is VERY supportive.
As soon as it is realiased that you are a Jetski FISHERMAN, 99 % of folks are cool.

The negative vibes that one sometimes experiences is from the odd individual who is permanently in a measuring contest.
Be it boat size, ding dong or other .
The best thing we can do is to make sure that we MORE than obey the rules and maybe the windgat image can be minimised (although is must say it is not easy to suppress the hooligan in most of us when you have 160 hp on 350 Kg at your diposal).

Enjoy !
