Venues closing?

Morning to all. It seems our fishing venues are getting smaller and smaller. Understand Steyns does not allow fishing any more There is a sign at the gate "No Fishing" . Believe Ardenza and Cilliers are also closing down. Anyone on the Forum have the right information?

We have booked an open comp at Steyns for next year March and the owner confirmed that they will allow certain organised events for another year or so. Thereafter there wont be anymore fishing. As far as I know the water is closed to public fishing although I am not 100% sure. The sad thing is that a lot of farms around the Vaal Dam are in the market or sold already and it looks like there will be residential developments on some of these farms. Appperantly this is the case for Steyns in particular. In my humble opinion Steyns is one of the best waters on the dam.

Ardenza has been sold 10years ago already. From what I heard they will be starting development in the new year so we can still fish there until December. Don't know anything about Cilliers>>>

Yip, they should convert the whole Vaal system that is not yet developed into protected land or a nature reserve like it is at Bloemhof. The ultimate pipe dream.

Hi Al can confirm my friend just had to turn around at the gates at Steyns very sad day indeed some of my best fishing trips and memorys is from steyns

This sucks... have you noticed how its always the good places closing down. Ive been to some shite holes and they seem to go forever... its a crazy world huh?
