Venue for Cape 'Safety in Numbers' Night Fishing,Thurs 11th Dec

Venue for 32 Confirmed Anglers for 11/12 Night Fishing!As per Sticky  "Cape 'Safety in Numbers' Night Fishing",where we have 32 confirmed anglers wanting to partake,dates were set but venue was held over to verify where fish are being caught.I spoke to Marthin,and the general feeling is that if we have a Security Guard,then we can fish at places like Wolfgat,Mnandi,etc.

Security Guard.I'm presently negotiating for a Security Guard via a Sealine member who operates a Security company,and has offerred to bring a guard along, who we can all club in & pay to ensure safety of vehicles,and contents.We're still negotiating a price & should know by the morning.But this will be a bona fida genuine Security Guard & not a makeshift one.Should this go well,we could incorporate a back up for this guard at a later stage should we repeat this exercise. 

Wolfgat as a Proposal for venue.I fished Wolfgat for first time on Saturday,and lost a mother of a fish right in front of me,after fish initially ran close to 200 metres of line off before i could turn fish around,and ultimately lost fish right in front in the surf. Anyway,it looks a promising spot but it's purely a suggestion, which Marthin is comfortable with,but would like to ensure all members are happy with this venue.We need numbers to ensure safety,and if successful,this could lead to further organized night fishing. So,kindly offer approval or comment on alternative venues in accordance of where fish are making an appearance.Cheers!

Car Guard has been arranged for Thursday night,and looking at R10 per person as payment,which should ensure the safety of our vehicles.Cheers!

Coming from Muizenburg side,it's last turn before Monwabisi & Macassar.Water's deep there & great low tide spot.i don't mind meeting at a place like broken Rd & escorting you & others down to Wolfgat,if need be.Cheers!

Dont mean to come across as critical, but my perception
is that this seems a bit drastic and a touch paranoid.
I have been fishing the beats from Swartklip
through to fish hoek for years. Ranging from 2am
until 11:00 am and have never
been robbed, mugged, assaulted, had my car broken into
or had my car stolen. Maybe it is because I am normally
covered in sardine blood ??
I was down at the Strandfonten 3 weeks ago from 2am until 7am alone,
and encountered nothing other than a 1.3kg kobbie and some
very big crabs ?
Perhaps I am being to relaxed ?

With all respect,where have you been in the last few weeks, Mr Urchin?There's been cars & Bakkies stolen or hijacked,cars broken in/smashed windows,muggings & robberies, attacks,sounds of bullets nearby to anglers,etc,etc.This is the reason why so many have joined our proposals for a Network of Anglers for Night Fishing.Have you seen how many extra police vehicles are patrolling and more regularly than normal?Perhaps,by fishing alone,you don't hear these stories?It's also been spread all across the angling sites.I've received so many pm's wrt attacks,etc.It's not about being paranoiea, but rather about prevention being better than cure and ensuring we've done everything possible to ensure the safety of anglers who have the RIGHT to fish at night.So,think you can count yourself lucky as you've come away unscathed.No offence taken!Just Take Care!Cheers!

a  homicidal maniac.....in he dark - first comes the stench
then the visual of blood - leatherface with a kob rig.

Whoever doesn't know Wolfgat whereabouts,I can arrange to first meet them at Broken Rd parking & leave there @ 19h30 and escort them to Wolfgat where the idea was we start fishing at 20H00.So, in by eight,out by 11-ish,depending on car guard.Cheers!

Might sound like a silly question but is Wolfgat a place where you can go with your car, or must you have a 4 X 4.

Wolfgat sounds good i have not been there in years due to it being unsafe. Great initiative and R10 is not much for safety.I also count myself lucky as have been fishing alone for many years without any trouble, but those days are gone now you have to fish with your car in-sight.

No 4x4 needed at Wolfgat as parking area's near to fishing spot.I'll be meeting anyone not knowing Wolfgat whereabouts, at Broken Rd parking lot, at say 19h20, and will escort to Wolfgat at 19H30.The location from Muizenburg side will be found at last right turn before Monwabisi.There's a green Sign board that says Wolfgat Nature Reserve.Cheers!
